Freeze Dried Beef Heart
High-end, single ingredient dog treats, handmade with love.
Which product to choose? Let's start with the two different processes for preservation of these treats, dehydration and freeze drying, and how you want to use them.
Dehydration dries the product with heat. Larger pieces are dried at 165°F. The moisture is simply evaporated out. This gives them a tougher, more durable texture. Dehydrated Lung treats are crunchy and a little chewy, perfect for the dogs that like to knaw on things! These lung treats are super tasty to your canine companions, as well!
Freeze drying is an entirely different process. The end product is very dry, but structurally intact. The treats are frozen to around -40°F. Then, a vacuum pump lowers the pressure to around 200-300 Mtorr as the temperature slowly rises. This causes the moisture in the product to sublimate, that is, it goes from solid ice directly to water vapor! The vacuum removes this water vapor, leaving a dry but intact product. The treats are easily broken, making them great for small dogs or training. They can also be crushed for sprinkling over food as a topping to encourage eating. The treats also soften quickly as they are chewed, so even old pups can enjoy them! Choose from freeze dried liver, heart, and lung.
